Games.mantikora.com administrators generally use only JPEG and PNG image file
formats. Because of patent issues with the LZW compression algorithm, we do not use
GIF file format. Instead, we've chosen equivalent substitute, PNG. However, PNG file
format is also not without some nuisances. Specifically, older internet browsers
don't support PNG files or don't support the newest features like transparency. Use
up to date versions of Netscape, Mozilla or Internet Explorer.
Though it is possible to print PNG files directly from your internet browser,
comfortable image manipulation may only be achieved by using special image processing
software. We recommend you one of the best, the freeware program Gimp that is
downloadable from www.gimp.org. Both Linux and Windows versions are available for
download. Also, a book about Gimp, titled Grokking the Gimp, is available at the
internet.
